We watched over 100 video submissions. Some good, some bad. And some were GREAT, like the one below.
Our goal was to uncover creative ideas about learning environments, and we really didn’t know what to expect. But it’s clear that the students at Westerville South High School in Ohio have one of the coolest learning environments around! Their teachers, Mr. Schultz and Mr. Winner, clearly stress collaboration and FUN in their classrooms. If you had rapping math teachers, you’d probably be more inclined to show up and learn your math lessons too, wouldn’t you? And that’s what it’s all about really — having fun while you learn. When classrooms are engaging, collaborative, and exciting, students feel like they are a part of the learning process.
We believe all students should have the opportunity to have a personalized learning experience, and that’s why we chose Dave Schultz and Tyler Winner as the winners of our contest. They make learning personal. For their creative submission, the Ohio teachers will be awarded a $10,000 cash prize to split, and they’ll also receive $5,000 for their school.
