400 New Online Learning Activities, Gradebook Feature, Expanded Professional Development, and More

We have listened to our customers, and it is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to announce: We’ve made significant product enhancements to our online learning solution, CompassLearning Odyssey. These new features will help teachers more efficiently assess students’ abilities, prescribe personalized learning paths, and create progress reports. We are also increasing our leadership role in introducing content that provides Common Core coverage.

What’s New in Odyssey?

  • Gradebook: Odyssey 2012 offers a all-encompassing gradebook, which will allow teachers to grade online as well as off-line activities that can be tracked and monitored. With this feature, teachers can easily enter, edit, and calculate grades automatically. Students can also use the gradebook to track their progress and ensure academic success.
  • More than 400 new activities: Odyssey users will have access to more than 400 new online learning activities and quizzes, all of which are designed to meet the individualized needs of today’s 21st-century learner. These additional activities span the breadth of our comprehensive K-12 curriculum, with new K-8 activities in reading language arts and science, and there are additional math activities for the full K-12 continuum. Reading language arts and math content is built to align with Common Core standards. Additionally, the curriculum tools embedded throughout the product, Odyssey Writer, Odyssey Community, and Odyssey Task activities have been added to all the Odyssey Middle School Science courses.
  • Expanded professional development videos: So teachers can get up to speed more quickly, Compass Learning’s professional development offering, Impact Teacher Academy, now offers more video tutorials for common Odyssey tasks. Customers who purchase our professional development services can access regularly scheduled, streaming, online sessions that provide real-time interaction with facilitators of the Impact Teacher Academy.
  • More flexible user experience: So teachers can design and manage courses easier, we have updated Odyssey Manager with the ability to upload custom content from external documents or embedded links to create authentic tasks in courses. There is also a new high school course catalog of pre-built courses that will allow teachers and administrators to implement extended year, credit recovery, summer school, and/or virtual school programs.
